The Undeniable Link Between Women and the Earth

There is a sacred connection between women and the Earth, after all, the Earth is governed by Mother Nature, a being that is symbolized as a protective, nurturing, and life-giving force of the natural world, reflecting femininity and devotion throughout multiple cultures. This link will be further explained by dissecting why empowering women through leadership and equity is essential to saving our Earth

The Problem? Gender Equality.

Women are the catalyst forces that drive sustainability efforts forward, but our full potential is hindered by the gender disparities that are still prominent in our present. According to the United Nations Climate Action, women are the 80% of those displaced by climate change, yet there are hardly any women in leadership and policy-making roles.

Beyond that, many women in rural areas are marginalized and disproportionately affected by this. Women in agriculture produce up to 80% of sustenance in developing countries, yet only 20% own land. This means that climate impacts affect them the most; whether it is a drought or flood, they are at risk the most. But we can fight this.

The Power of Women in Sustainability

When women rise, changes ignite.

When women are awarded leadership in sustainability efforts, impact follows. According to the Gender Equality in the Sustainable Energy Transition, environmental policies hold more promise and effectiveness when women are involved and lead initiatives. Whether it's reforestation, clean energy in businesses, or more, our results hold longer and stronger.

Women in Business can break the cycle.

By empowering women through policy reforms, financial inclusions, and education and training, we can fight against the perception that women are 'inferior'. WE can fight against the injustice towards us and the Earth, Mother Nature. It has been proven that women rising into leadership positions foster solutions that are not only effective, but longer and stronger altogether. As Women in Business continues to rise against the injustices of being in male-dominated fields, we can collectively continue to positively change the world.
