LinkedIn was created with the goal of sharing your professional accomplishments, and
be able to find jobs catered to you. In today’s age, it has become another social media where many girls find themselves scrolling and constantly comparing themselves to one another. In my experience, there are many days when I open up LinkedIn, and instead of feeling inspired or happy for my peers, I end up feeling behind or like I am way off track. I see people getting new internships, full-time offers, and many other acceptances that leave me wondering if I am on the right track.
Being a woman interested in corporate finance, it becomes easy to feel overlooked when
I am constantly in spaces of people who are going into high finance, which is a completely
different timeline. Keeping this in mind has helped me a lot when I find myself comparing my timeline to someone who has completely different career goals, and is in a different spot than me.

As women, it is important to understand that whichever path you are on is the right one.
Just because other people are posting their accomplishments does not mean that yours are any less important or valuable. Even making small steps towards your career is something, whether that is a coffee chat, an interview, or even just applying to an internship.
Success does not have only one timeline, and it will look different for everyone. The
person who just posted their internship went through a completely diff erent process, and
there is no possible way you can compare your steps with theirs. Most of the time, it is not even a role we would want, or a place we would want to be in. Being able to celebrate yourself and focus on your own timeline while still celebrating others is the key to being truly fulfilled throughout your career.
